So...for the past several days we have been telling you what we think you want to know about our trip and Emily. Now it is your turn to ask questions that we maybe we haven't answered. Respond in the comment section with your questions and be sure to say who the question is for....
One question someone already asked was about what the rest of our trip looked like. So here goes:
We now are in Nanchang, the capital city of Jiangxi (the province Emily was born). We came here on Sunday. This portion of the trip is all about finalizing the adoption from a China perspective. We have finished all the paperwork and (as you saw in an earlier post) received our adoption approval from the China side. We have to hang around here a few more days until her Chinese pasport is ready....
- 8/10 – Sightseeing to Teng Wang Ge
- 8/11 – Sightseeing to XiangHu Park
- 8/12 – We get passport for Emily and fly to Guangzhou.
In Guangzhou, the focus changes to the US side of things. We will be filling out all the necessary paperwork and meeting with American officials. Here is what that looks like...
- 8/13 – Emily’s Visa photo and medical exam (wont that be fun!)
- 8/14 – Sightseeing to Chen Family’s Temple
- 8/15 – Sightseeing to Yuntai Park
- 8/16 – Interview with the American Consulate and oath-taking ceremony!!! Emily will officially be ours on the US side of things.
- 8/17 – We get to spend the day with some friends of ours who currently live here in China. We are very excited about this! We get Emily's passport back with her US visa at 3 pm.
- 8/18 – We make our way back to the great state of Texas
Ok....that is what is on tap for the rest of our trip. Now it is your turn to ask your questions.....and don't forget to say who the question is for....
Ryan - who's winning the pictures with Chinese battle? You or your dad?

Why isn't there a bow in baby girl's hair?
ReplyDeleteRyan and Jonny: What is your favorite thing to do with your baby sister when playing with her?
ReplyDeleteLyndi wants to ask Emily what she likes to eat.
Thanks for the oppurtunity to ask. This will be fun. Pam
Collin would like to know how old Emily is :)
ReplyDeleteRyan - will you be posting a picture of the angry fish?
ReplyDeleteYes agree with Rhonda want to see a picture of the Angry Fish.
ReplyDeleteAll -What is the little thing that Emily does that you each love best?
For the boys - besides your sister what was the best thing that you have done while in China?

Was Emily in an orphanage or foster care?
ReplyDeleteWhat was Emily's Chinese name and the translated meaning?
Are you by chance staying at the White Swan in Guangzhou?
Autumn is from Jiangxi province and we also stayed in Nanchang (small world huh?) but she is from a small town called Xinyu. All of the babies from that orphanage had the surname Yu.

First, it was 'anonymous me' that asked for the upcoming schedule, so thank you very much for that..it 'splained a lot.
ReplyDeleteNow questions - for anyone:
When will you be able to get her an American passport?
Where ARE those bows I saw on Facebook???
Where did all the "baby equipment" I've seen in the pictures come from? Please tell me you didn't have to haul all that with you?
Have you adjusted fairly well to the time change?
Thanks and love to all!
Martha
One more thing...I have a friend who is a hotel GM in Guangzhou - I am 95% sure it's the Westin and just Facebooked him to confirm. He and his wife both worked for Wyndham for years - starting at Harbour Island with me. Just keep the name Brian Segrave in your back pocket - never know when it might come in handy!

Yes, Miss Tammy, Bailey and I both want to know where Emily's bows are. :o)
ReplyDeleteOops! Should have said that it was from Alissa
ReplyDeleteTo Ryan and Jonny: what has been the weirdest, or worst, food you have eaten so far?
ReplyDeleteHave her feet touched the floor yet??? ;-)
For daddy: She is very beautiful! Do you have a shotgun? I can see that one may be needed in about 16 years.

Hey guys, no real question, just a warning that I may be sneaking back to work in the nursery some day soon. What a beautiful, beautiful little girl. Roger , I can't quite put into words how I feel when I think of your new family member. It's not jealousy or envy, but she is a long way from a 5 ' 10 '' 14 year old who is now shaving. Your boys will be there too soon, I know I don't have to tell you, you are truly blessed. Be safe and God speed on your travels home.
ReplyDeleteWe love you
Dee
What a great blog!!!! She is beautiful and I have enjoyed watching your journey to bring Emily home. Tammy you are still as funny as you were at DBU! Thank you for sharing your life with us. We will pray for safe travels and for a quick adjustment to being a family of 5! Congratultions!
ReplyDeleteJennifer (Baldwin)Stonecipher
Thanks for giving us a glimpse of your upcoming schedule! That answered a lot of my questions......but here are a couple more!
ReplyDelete1st - What did you decide on Emily's full name?
2nd - will she have a Chinese birth certificate and US birth certificate and do you know her "back story" like where she was found or came from? I'm sorry that I don't remember it if you have said! I've been busy - ha ha!
Love you all! Enjoying this so much! Natalie even said she was reading up on yall!
Kate
Every day I look forward to reading your blog! Such a wonderful and heartwarming story. Love it, love you.

Has Emily asked about me yet? --Trip
ReplyDeleteWho has learned the most Chinese words?
ReplyDelete(Aside to MW - I remember the name Brian Segrave. I'll bet I did his offer letter!! What a small world!)
Barbara Mitchell
Evan wanted to know if you had eaten sushi. Then he asked what you had eaten.
ReplyDeleteThe boys and I want to know if Emily is talking and what sounds she makes. They are having fun practicing what they think she sounds like, so they would probably like a video.
I want to know if Emily's hair always stands up or flies away and how Tammy is handling Emily's hair. And I agree with the others - where are the bows? Or headbands, at least?
And I want to know when I can hold Emily and hug the rest of you!
Love you!
Hey Barb...You probably did do one of his MANY offer letters. I can tell you I did his first - when he was a baby! just a kid from Ireland right out of hotel school there. Now the GM of the W across the world. It IS a small world!
